Hello to everyone,
this morning, we arrived very early in Kaniyakumari, which is the southernmost point or “Lands End” of India. This is a special and beautiful place, very small and easy to find ones way around. It is (obviously) surrounded by sea-the bay of Bengal meets the Indian Ocean and the Arabian sea in the west-the views are great and we are looking forward to spending a few nice days here. Arriving by train through dawn this morning, there were some wonderful impressions: mountains in the first light of morning, entire forests of coconut palms, fresh green fields with some birds stalking in them, little fires were lit in or outside the farmers little palm huts, children stopping to look at the passing train. And everything was still lovely and cool and fresh as it was so early in the morning. Tonight we climbed a small viewing tower right on the seafront from which we watched an amazing sunset over the Arabian sea. There are also many Indian “tourists” here because this is a popular destination for pilgrimage for Hindus.
